SIMONSEN participates in expert group to promote literature and language
Simonsen Advokatfirma DA is appointed by The Norwegian Ministry of Culture to participate in an expert group that will assess the policies to promote Norwegian literature and language. Simonsen will perform this study with the economic consulting firms Oslo Economics and Oeconomica (professors Espen Moen and Christian Riis, BI Norwegian Business School). The group will assess the performance of today’s policy instruments and regulatory framework in promoting both fiction and non-fiction literature in Norwegian language. A central part of the study will be to assess the “book agreement” between publishers and booksellers in Norway, in particular whether the system of resale price maintenance promotes the policy goals. The study will also include an assessment of whether a separate book act is a suitable policy instrument. The study will also include a comparative study of the regulatory frameworks in European countries.
